2026 Spring · New-TA Peer Sharing
The first training of the semester for new TAs, a panel with experienced TAs from various courses, aiming to help new TAs do their work stably and with high quality.
Session flow
- Introduce the panel guests
- New TAs scan the sign-in questionnaire
- During the session, scan the "real-time question questionnaire", which syncs to an online spreadsheet; the host periodically switches to the sheet and invites the sharing TAs to answer briefly

Discussion topics (mainly guest sharing + real-time questions)
- How to communicate and stay in sync with the instructor? — How new TAs establish a stable communication rhythm and keep information aligned (e.g. assignment deadlines, grading standards, tutoring schedule changes in time).
- How to manage and respond to students' expectations? — Draw boundaries between students' needs and the TA's capacity/time, and set reasonable expectations about tutoring formats and response times.
- In 2026, how should programming-assignment plagiarism detection be done? — New challenges and ideas in the LLM era: AIGC-generated code, reuse of previous years' code, cross-year content iteration — how to define "independent completion."
- In our courses, what is a "dictionary" and what is "poetry"? — A metaphor: which parts are mandatory, relatively fixed/clear "knowledge drafts," and which are space for creativity/individual expression; how to balance them in courses and assignments.
- If we hold a "computing-education student forum," what ideas do you have? — Imagining the possible forms and themes of a student-facing computing-education exchange platform/forum, a direction for the training team's future expansion.
